Read Ulysses by James Joyce – Sun 2nd Oct 2022

The Bloomsday Society will be reading collectively “The most dangerous Book in the world.” It is, of course Ulysses by James Joyce.

Join us here at The Irish World Heritage Centre starting on the 2nd of October 2022 at 6.30pm until 8.30pm. Have a go at reading the first episode if you can, and we’ll help you to get into the book.

What is Ulysses by James Joyce?

James Joyce (1882 – 1941) is one of Ireland’s most celebrated and influential writers. Ulysses is considered by most to be his most famous work. It follows the movements of Leopold Bloom, through a single day on June 16th, 1904. It is, essentially “a day in the life”, type of story.

So don’t miss the opportunity to delve into the book which was banned for many years in the UK and America, “To protect the delicate sensibilities of female readers”.

It will be the beginning of a wonderful journey through Irish history, Geography, Politics, Literature, Music and language.

We hope to see you at the IWHC on Sunday 2nd October 2022 from 6.30pm to delve into Leopold Bloom’s life and James Joyce’s most famous work.

Ulysses by James Joyce was completed in 1914, published in 1922, but remained banned in the UK and USA until 1936.
