Irish Passport Application from the UK

Please note: The Irish Passport system has now switched to online applications, so the IWHC no longer stocks paper Passport application forms.

Irish Citizens aged over 18, who have held an Irish Passport before can now renew their Irish passports online.

If you lose your Irish passport, if it’s stolen or damaged, you can use Passport Online to report it lost and apply for a renewal.

Documentation required for Irish Citizen Passport renewals:

  • Original long form Birth Certificate
  • Original Civil Marriage Certificate
  • Current Photo Identification (e.g. passport or driving licence
  • Proof of name (e.g. utility bill)
  • Proof of address (e.g. recent bank statement)
  • Witness of Section 9​

Those born abroad to an Irish parent also need to include:

  • Irish born Parent’s original long form Birth Certificate
  • Irish born Parent’s original Civil Marriage Certificate (if applicable)

Cost

All online applications require payments to be made by credit/ debit card.

  • Standard 10-year passport: €75
  • Large 66 page 10-year passport: €105
  • Standard 5-year passport for those under 18 years: €20​

Tracking Your Irish Passport Application

Once you’ve completed your online passport application, you will receive an 11 digit application number (Passport Application ID). If you enter that here, you’ll see how far along your application is.
